a brief history
Project InTandem was initiated in 2017 as a coming together of emerging artists Meghann Michalsky, Matthew Hall, & Sylvie Moquin to create more opportunities in Calgary. Michalsky & Moquin are now the sole Artistic Directors of the Platform.
Between 2017 - 2024, our production experience includes: self-producing three shows, developing or commissioning six new works, hiring and working with over 60 artists, and touring to Canmore, Camrose, Vancouver and Regina.
Our partnership is based on shared respect for each other's work, strong accountability to one another, and the ability to challenge each other to strive for the highest level of artistic integrity. As co-producers, we value the economic benefits of working together and acknowledge the advantages of collaboration, as our projects are far less feasible for one individual to accomplish.

Her choreographic research starts with her trust in the body and investigating how bodily experiences are deeply embedded. She creates highly visceral works that combine intense musculature and athletic physicality. Her movement signature has been described as vigorous, raw, and primal. Her knowledge of Hip-Hop and Krump movement principles has influenced her development of isolated, rhythmic, bound, and fast-twitch movement qualities into her contemporary choreographies.

Sylvie moquin
Sylvie is a dance artist, performer, choreographer, educator, rehearsal assistant and producer based out of Calgary, Alberta (Mohkinstsis). She is proud to be a co-creator and Artistic Director of Project InTandem, a platform to propel opportunities for artists in Canada.
She received her BFA in Performance Dance from the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), and has since extended her dance training through the Professional Training Program with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (Calgary), Impulstanz (Vienna) and TransFormations (Montréal), among others.
Sylvie was a recipient of Calgary Arts Development’s Individual Artist Program Grant in 2019. During that time, she was fortunate to engage in an intimate mentorship exchange with Karen Kaeja of Kaeja d’Dance. She also received her certification as a Kaeja Elevations teacher.
As a dancer, she has worked extensively with various individual artists and companies, including Karissa Barry, Laja Field of LajaMartin, Meghann Michalsky, Davida Monk, J-Sik Movements, kloetzel&co, Rock Bottom Movement, Corps Bara Dance Theatre, Dancers’ Studio West - Lab Emerging Artist Program, Pam Tzeng, Dancing Monkey Laboratories, and has performed in shows such as Dance: made in Canada, Ignite! Festival, Alberta Dance Festival, Dance Action Lab (DSW), Brian Webb Dance Series (Edmonton), Stream of Dance Festival (Regina), and the Fluid Festival (Calgary), among others.
She has showcased her choreographic works in a variety of festivals and platforms, including Chutzpah! Festival, artsPlace, Project InTandem & the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks PTP Program. Sylvie was also invited to take part in “For Design’s Sake”, part of Verb Theatre’s Experiment Lab, where she created a movement solo in response to scenic design.
Sylvie recently took part in the Research LAB with Dancers’ Studio West, her first creative process since becoming a mother. She is convicted about being an example as a mother in our dance ecosystem, and raising her daughter to have a love and appreciation for movement and the arts.
Sylvie uses the sensing body to somatically approach theories she finds fascinating in the world. She is inspired by bold and athletic physicality, as well as theatricality and story-telling. She is especially interested in how bodies interact with one another, how they can support each other to fly, spin and find themselves upside down effortlessly. Keenly interested in the effects of the mind, the power of our thoughts, and the ability for change and growth, her research and choreography currently seek to find a sense of hope within a world of chaos.
